Lagos seals off public toilet, cites environmental hazards 29th June 2024
The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office has sealed off a public toilet at Ogunlana Street, Egbeda, Lagos, following reports of illegal activities and environmental hazards. This was disclosed in a statement on X.com by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab. According to the statement, the toilet, which was found to be harbouring a large number of unaccounted bike riders, was discovered to be discharging untreated wastewater into public drainage, causing foul odours and posing a significant risk to groundwater contamination. The agency has urged citizens to desist from wastewater mismanagement, warning that it could lead to the spread of Cholera in the state.
